What does work life balance mean to you and how do you do it successfully? At every stage in my career, work life balance has always played a key role. Finding the right mix, nourishes a healthy environment for one to succeed. Luckily enough, I learned that early in my career when time was of the essence. Building a successful business from the ground up does not happen without the support of family and friends, and so work life balance has always been a pillar throughout my career. As I look back, I consider myself extremely fortunate for the love and support my family and friends have always given me. Early on, I thank my parents for their continued support to pursue my studies. I thank my wife for all our years of marriage and the love and support she has given me while I worked to establish my business, and we worked to establish our family. During my career, I have created long-time friendships with my business associates, that I now call family and am extremely grateful. Marriage, parenthood, and family make it all worth the effort. Core to my belief is to work hard and perform at optimal levels, so that quality time with family is never sacrificed.

What is the best advice you can offer somebody starting off in a new profession?Starting off in a new career is a very exciting time. Although, starting off a new business is also very exciting and stressful. From the inception of our practice, there were people that supported me and others that did not. In the end, you must make light of both. Supporters play a key role in launching a career, but it is the non-supporters that give you the strength to overcome. Negative comments are never welcome, and it is important to turn those negative comments into positives and stay focused on the big picture. Try and understand where these comments resonate from and understand why they are being directed to you. Most often, they are not a reflection of you but rather an insecurity on the part of the individual speaking those words. Think about what matters most, navigate through the noise, seek valuable advice while taking calculated risks.

What is the biggest factor that has helped you become successful?Understanding my career goals and creating a path to achieve these goals. In my case, the path always involved dedication and commitment to my clients and staff. I treat each as an individual with concern about their financial security and well being. I always consider how I would like to be treated in their circumstances. By understanding their needs and stepping into their shoes, I can provide them with trusted, quality advice, along with the utmost level of respect. This is what makes my career fulfilling.
